Captain Lord ignored Titanic's SOS signals despite being only ten miles away and during the official enquiry he tried to cover up his failings. In an opposite demonstration of leadership, Captain Rostrun of the Californian turned his ship around and steered through a field of icebergs to help pick up survivors.
