Unknown to all concerned WW1 was just around the corner, which likely would have made a huge difference in the negotiations. Plus Paul talks about the riches to rags tale of Francis (Ratz) Rattenbury - an outstanding architect who helped shape the landscape of Western Canada. Unfortunately his life had a dark side of arrogance, bankruptcy, scandal, sex, and murder.
