This week, Kate talks about the Women's Institutes in Haliburton County that provided an outlet for the County's women who wanted to do-good for the community, but couldn't join the fraternal organizations dominated by men. Luckily, Kate has access to the record books and minutes of the Haliburton village chapter to give us a glimpse into the lives of women in the community. Plus Paul talks about the Overlanders who chose to take the shorter - but much more difficult - all Canada land route, crossing the Rockies to the Cariboo gold fields in British Columbia's interior. Normally prospectors would take the Pacific coast route from San Francisco, Seattle and Victoria to head to the interior from the west coast of Canada.
