Former super league referee Robert Hicks joins me to discuss his role at the RFL, the new rules around head contact and if we are risking the entertainment value within the sport. We speak about his career, how he started and the cup finals and the grand finals he has refereed. Rob discusses the controversial call he made during the Warrington vs Saints Challenge Cup Final, giving a very open and honest account of this match. Rob also tells us about the struggle to make sure we have enough referees at weekends for grassroots rugby league and how the abuse of refs is making a difference to this.
