Some people think this world is all about them. We can dismiss those people as somehow foolish or self-centered, but there is something useful to recognizing how people view themselves. A popular phrase I've used before is "no one is the villain in the movie they are playing in their head". It's useful to remember that all of us... even those we detest the most... are all struggling with the same sin-problem and trying to find the truth in a world full of false truths. When we adopt this mentality, we can turn our contempt for a lost world into compassion for a lost world. We can realize that we are no better than them and that if God can save us, he can save anyone!
