Did you know that even small imperfections in the processing of metal can cause sensitive machinery to fail?  This is exactly what led to a crash known as the Sioux City Miracle where an air disaster was caused by a metallurgy imperfection in a small disk responsible for holding one of the engines on the aircraft.  It was found that during the casting process, small bubbles of nitrogen were allowed to form in the metal which weakened the part, leading to a major disaster.  Typically, these metal disks are forged during a specific process designed to worm out any possible imperfections.  
God has a process for us as well, capable of weeding out all of the small imperfections which can cause us to fail.  Sure, we may have it in our heads that we took care of the big problems in our lives, but we have to keep a watchful eye on the small things as well.  We can look at many characters in the Old Testament and see how God worked on them through their devotion to prayer, meditation, and service.  As God worked on all the various imperfections in their character, they were made stronger and ultimately used to achieve great, great things!
