Listen "Sermon: Don't Return to Egypt"
Episode Synopsis
No sooner had the Hebrew people been redeemed from their bondage in Egypt did they begin yearning to return to slavery. The uncertainty and risk to prosperity that they faced as they traveled into the desert was too much for them to handle. They asked Moses if it wouldn't be better if they remained in their slavery. Some of us yearn for bondage. We feel the alluring call of sin and we wish we could return to that life. But... we have to stop and realize how foolish the Hebrew people look today. We have the benefit of knowing how the story ends. What seemed "reasonable" to the Hebrew people seems insane to us, knowing the glories and blessings they would receive in the Promised Land. We, too, are traveling to our Promised Land and there is no doubt that our own disobedience may look foolish in hindsight. The things of this world may look nice in a moment, but they promise only death. Christ did not die on the cross just so we could return to our graves. Stand up and get out of the grave... Christ has risen and he beckons for you to rise with him!
