Listen "Sermon: A Mother's Love (God and Family series)"
Episode Synopsis
What words could you use to describe a mother? Nurturing? Caring? How about selfless and humble? The Bible gives us many images of strong mothers but there is more to the story than just motherly examples of centuries past. We can easily look at the church and see a mother figure. After all, Christ is often described as a groom in the Bible with the church being his "bride". We also know Christ is the head of the church which seems to make him a father, and therefore the church is a mother. If that is the case, how similarly would we describe the church and a loving mother? Do our churches look like nurturing, caring, selfless, and humble mothers or do they look like something else entirely? Let's celebrate our earthly mothers today, but not overlook the spiritual obligation we have, as a part of the church, to be motherly to those whom God has placed on our path.
