Episode Synopsis
Send us a text*SPECIAL EXTRA EPISODE* (In light of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II). In this episode Ali is joined by Martha, and together they discuss the word CROWN. References:15.44 - Martha mentioned the hymn 'Crown him with Many Crowns' (Matthew Bridges, 1851). Here is verse 1: "Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne.Hark! how the heavenly anthem drownsall music but its own.Awake, my soul, and singof him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless kingthrough all eternity."16.44 - Ali quoted from the final hymn from the Queen's state funeral. Love Divine, All Loves Excelling (Charles Westley, 1747): "Finish, then, thy new creation;true and spotless let us be.Let us see thy great salvationperfectly restored in thee.Changed from glory into glory, till in heav’n we take our place, till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love and praise."17.32 - We alluded to a verse from the Bible - Revelation 4:10 - where we get a picture of heaven, at the end of time, with people (specifically the symbolic '24 elders'), laying their crowns at Jesus' throne. This picture comes out in the song 'Love Divine', which we quoted, and which the Queen herself chose for her funeral. If you have any further, different or other thoughts on any of the words discussed in the podcast, please do get in touch: [email protected].
