Listen "7. Exposing the Attachment to Mind, & Clarity on Purpose"
Episode Synopsis
"It is not my function to explain the Self to you. The Self is not to be understood. Rather, it is my function to help you see how you hide the Self from yourself, so you can chose to let go of the action of hiding it." ~ Excerpt from the Exposing the Attachment to Mind message from Inner Ramana
"The best way to break identification with the mind is to cease the activity of listening to it as if it is you."
~ Excerpt from the Clarity on Purpose message from Inner Ramana
Assignment for week 7: Focus on letting go of your attachment to mind, which means to continue with the surrender and the mantra. Also, try to become alert to the difference between “initial” or “movement” thoughts and the chatter about them. Try to drop the chatter, but go ahead and do whatever the movement thought suggested. (Starting at 17:03, Regina talks about thoughts that move you and that are not accompanied by commentary. Thich Nhat Hanh called them initial thoughts.)
This podcast uses recordings from a study group that was led by Regina Dawn Akers in Pueblo, Colorado in 2016. They have been lightly edited.
The group was studying the messages published in the book "The Teachings of Inner Ramana". Learn more about that book here: https://awakening-together.org/about-awakening-together/other-resources/teachings-inner-ramana/
