Listen "Mark 15:33 -39 - In The Dark"
Episode Synopsis
Sermon Discussion Questions
Have you ever felt abandoned by someone who was supposed to love you and care for you? How have you responded to that abandonment? How does Jesus’ suffering abandonment at the cross for you (both “in your place” and in order to set a pattern you can follow) heal you in your abandonment?
Martin Luther famously declared that we often fail to see Christ’s glory hidden in suffering, and so miss God himself. How do we tend to overlook God in our own weakness and shame? In what ways do we fail to see God in the sufferings of others?
Christ’s death on the cross is the “crux” of God’s witness to the world (see John 12:32). How are you presently holding out this crux to those around you - both in your successes and in your weaknesses?
