Today we talk about the serious topic of suicidal thoughts, coinciding with "Blue Monday." Full disclosure: we're not experts on the subject but we want to provide support and information for those struggling or for those who know someone who is having suicidal thoughts; or suspect they might be. Perhaps someone listening to this podcast is having these thoughts and if they are then this is what we’d like them to consider.What to look out for in others:Changes in behaviourExpressing feelings of hopelessnessGiving away possessionsTalking about death or suicideEngaging in risky behavioursHow to help someone:Give Them a Chance to Talk...Ask gentle, open questions like “What thoughts have been going through your mind?” and let them guide the conversation. Don’t worry about silences.Avoid asking “Why?” which can sound like blaming.Listen Without Judgement...Don’t debate whether suicide is right or wrong.
