Here is what is making news for June 11, 2025.========================The bureau of meteorology has released statistics regarding the weekends rainfall across the South West.BoM's Daniel Sherwin-Simpson says the states regions such as the South west saw much needed rain.================================================Anam Cara Colac is calling for help as demand for its palliative and respite care services continues to grow.The community-run hospice has supported more than 550 guests since opening in 2011, but says rising costs and no regular government funding are putting its future at risk.================================================It's NATIONAL BLOOD DONOR WEEK -- and Colac-Otway and Corangamite Shire residents are being called upon to roll up their sleeves and donate when the mobile centre next comes through town.Colac's Mobile Donor Centre will be back on Gravesend Street next month coming back on July 28.================================================Rural Council's Victoria Deputy Chair and Current Corangamite Shire Mayor Kate Makin was one of few to feature in the new drought response taskforce.Mayor Makin met with premier Jacinta Allan during her visit to Camperdown last week and says urgent action is needed.================================================Farmers across South West Victoria are set to benefit from a new $67 million drought support package announced by the State Government.Grants of up to $5,000—or up to $10,000 in 11 Local government areas including Colac-Otway and Corangamite—will be available to help fund on-farm infrastructure and water carting.================================================The Victorian Government is making it even easier for apprentices and trainees across Colac-Otway and Corangamite regions to get the support they need to succeed thanks to the new Apprenticeships Victoria Helpdesk.================================================AND IN SPORTA wet and wild weekend saw numbers down for Colac Golf Club's Saturday Stableford competitionNick Welsh took out the A-Grade win, also taking out the club's Monthly medal.Scott Bowen finished second while Jack Riches won B-Grade.================================================The Hampden Football Netball League is turning Round 9 green — with clubs across the region wearing green armbands to show solidarity with farmers doing it tough in the drought.The initiative, known as Farmers Round, was championed by Elise McKinnon from the Farmer-Led Drought Relief Alliance.================================================The Hampden Football League has announced its initial training squad which will take on Ballarat Football League next month.Each of the ten clubs are represented in the 30-man list.From Cobden there is Oliver Rial and Edmund Walsh.From Camperdown there is Albie Cheeseman, Ned Molan and Lenny Stephens.================================================See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
