Listen "Catechism Class. LD 20C Q53 The Holy Spirit - 3"
Episode Synopsis
Catechism Class. Lord’s Day 20C Q53 - The Sealing of the Spirit, Not Grieving the Spirit, and Blasphemy Against the Holy SpiritWe are still working our way through the Catechist’s teaching on the blessed third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, and we have already thought about the person of the Holy Spirit, and we have seen something of the work of the Holy Spirit. We have learned that the Holy Spirit is GIVEN, as a GIFT to us, and that the Holy Spirit REGENERATES US, - he applies Christ’s saving work to us as individuals. But the catechist goes further, and teaches us that the Holy Spirit abides with us eternally, and that is what we are going to think about in this lesson. We’ll look at how the Holy Spirit is our downpayment of heaven, the ‘Ernest of our inheritance,’ then, before we finish this very short set of segments on the Holy Spirit, we’ll learn how we may obey the command to not grieve the Holy Spirit, and finally explore what the Scripture means by ‘the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.’ Heidelberg Catechism: Q.53, What do you believe concerning the Holy Spirit? A. First, he is, together with the Father and the Son, true and eternal God. Second, he is also given to me, to make me by true faith share in Christ and all his benefits, to comfort me, and to remain with me forever.Read the NOTES HERE.Psalm content thanks to www.ThePsalmsSung.orgMusic on licence from www.Neosounds.com Hosted on Acast.
