The American Academy of Pediatrics released a post on 7/30/24 reading "Tongue-Tie Procedure Not Recommended". It refers to their new guidelines recently released on recommendations for treating tongue-tie. As two physician moms who have expertise in this area, we had some thoughts. We are both Doctor's of Osteopathic Medicine, meaning throughout our physician medical training we had additional hands-on training focusing on the movement patterns of bodily tissues - including the mouth! Andrea even had further training in osteopathic manual medicine, most recently focusing her clinical practice on mothers and babies often treating oral motor dysfunctions adjunctively. As a pediatrician, Kristin has also dealt with tongue-ties.
