Listen "Lure created to prevent costly beetle attacks"
Episode Synopsis
Victorian scientists have developed a word-first beetle lure for managing almond crops without pesticides. The new trap uses pheromones and yeast scents to attract the almond beetle, which causes millions in crop damage each year. Trials in the Sunraysia region show it can cut damage by around 60 per cent. Rural Reporter Toby Gough spoke with Senior Research Scientist Dr Samantha Edlley about the development.
