Episode Synopsis

With a World Premiere at Sundance in January, Sean Wang's Dìdi has now been capturing the hearts of audiences as the film has gone into wide release in theater. In 2008, during the last month of summer before high school begins, the film follows an impressionable 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy who learns what his family can't teach him: how to skate, how to flirt, and how to love your mom. We discuss the making of the film with editors Arielle Zakowski and Christopher Tennel who detail the post-production process and highlight the multiple formats the film operates in including rebuilding the 2008-era Facebook, MySpace, and skater videos.Listen Here:SpotifyApple PodcastsAll Listening PlatformsFollow our interviewee online:Arielle Zakowski IMDbChristopher Tennel IMDbFollow our interview host online:Danny Jarabek Website, Letterboxd, Instagram, X, TikTok, and LinktreeHave questions?
