Listen "You Cannot Do It Alone"
Episode Synopsis
Delivered by Pastor Brad Smith 02/09/25.
People become very independent once they leave school and start fending for themselves. This independence flows through to all parts of their lives and often they cut themselves off from vital knowledge and assistance as a result. This further entrenches the concept of "self only" support and people become hardened against good advice.
The great tragedy of the Christian Church has been in the adopting of this policy of "man knows best". The concept of building the church was based, in principle, upon the fact that man knows nothing, the answer is in the Lord. God offered Moses a rod, which was to be his authorization during his lifetime. The rod was the power of God to the man of God: also exemplifying the words of God and was always present when God acted.
The rod, of course, was representative of the Holy Spirit which was poured out on the day of Pentecost, and the "type" became reality. Without this rod, Moses was nothing, and without the Spirit we are nothing... it is the power and authority from God.
How many times when pressures arise do we grumble about our circumstances? "We are better off in our old world religion... I I preferred my life the way it was before we were Spirit filled"; these are common statements that people make to their oversight when they don't like the way they are being led. Moses was also pressed to change God's directions, but God said no.
Scriptural References.
Exo 15:15-16, Job 21:9-13, Psa 23:4, Joh 14:26, Jer 10:23-24.
