In this episode, we're talking about making room for conversation and I'm using a cup metaphor to illustrate some important points. As humans, we all have a mental and emotional cup. And like a cup of tea or a cup of coffee, if it's completely full, there is no room for anything else. Literally. This cup metaphor applies to communication and conversation as well. If you are attempting to converse with someone and their cup is full, there's not room for a new conversation with you. You've probably been in conversations where this is the case. And if you have, you find that you're talking to someone who isn't very engaged.
