Kabbalah demands many fasts to atone for sins (151 fasts for displaying anger!) and the Alter Rebbe rules that one may fulfill this obligation by giving charity—18 Gedolim Polish per fast. In today's letter the Rebbe explains how to convert that into dollars, and we'll use that to calculate how much charity we might owe for our sins.
