The handcuffs are only the physical evidence that something else has happened. The key to the handcuffs is the element of freedom that we need: truth for lies, forgiveness for bitterness, trust for fear, love for unbelief. The process of unlocking is revelatory, and the revelation must be maintained in order to be unleashed. Consider this explanation from one in leadership: “You’re going to take the handcuffs off and hang them on a nail by the door. You choose how free you’ll be and for how long.”
