I am a Family Nurse Practitioner... but not for much longer. I've been talking about nurse practitioner burnout for a while. I have light at the end of this tunnel and it's so bright I am almost physically blinded. But, that is often what can happen, we are so close to that breakthrough, that it's hard to see clearly.   Have you ever heard about the "hard before the breakthrough" and that being when most give up? There is reason.
I have just over a week left to say that I am working in the land of endless charts and free overtime. Plus, it's right before the sick season will hit which used to put me not seeing my family until 7 or 9 pm every night.  Even currently being in a great scenario, where I have the opportunity to quit working full time while I benefit from a supplemented income, I still have hesitations and fear. 
Why? Because of a fear of imperfection and addiction to perfection. Fear of doing something and not making the best decision.
