Armed with a shocking new theory about the true identity of the "ghost" on the cliff, Adam and Asa report their harrowing adventure to their father, Ben Hunter. The pieces of the puzzle start to connect, linking the haunted house to a wanted criminal and a new international smuggling case involving a ship called the Marco Polo. They realize their mysterious survivor, "Jones," is the weak link in the entire operation.But when they race back to the Kane farmhouse to question him, they are met with a terrifying silence. The house is dark, the kitchen has been violently ransacked, and the kindly Kanes are found bound and gagged. They have a horrifying story to tell: armed thugs have just stormed the house and kidnapped Jones. The criminals are only ten minutes ahead.
