Listen "How To Write an Effective Job Ad That Attracts Great Talent - Ep #121"
Episode Synopsis
How do you write the ultimate job ad to attract A-players?
The best contractors that I know, treat hiring like marketing.
This means they put out the same amounts of TIME, MONEY, AND ENERGY they do in marketing their business to clients, to market themselves to potential hires. So let's break down what a "marketable" job ad or A+ job ad looks like:
1️⃣ Eye-catching headline: You're gonna lose someone's attention or get it, within the first few seconds, so the first line is probably THE most important part. A headline that says "Looking for an exciting career change?" is a lot more likely to get someone's attention than "ABC contracting looking to hire." for example.
2️⃣ Why should THEY work for you?: That's the first question you need to be answering, and this is where most contractors slip. The market is your employees right now, so what sets you apart from your competition, is that they should choose you.
4️⃣ What's it like working for you? Talk about the environment and the expectations you have of potential hires. The contractors that resonate with your vision, will approach you.
4️⃣Do they have growth opportunities? No one wants to stay in the same place for 20 years, so do they have a chance to scale and develop in their career if they work for you?
5️⃣And lastly, all the technicalities, that they're gonna need to work for you, such as licenses and skills. Remember to keep these ads running around even after you’re hiring, a good hiring ad is GREAT for building your roaster and getting benchwarmers.
