Listen "80 Years Later"
Episode Synopsis
The summer of 1945 was a time of great upheaval across the world. The European front of World War II had already closed in May 1945, but the war in the Pacific would rage for another few months before V-J Day. Dr. James Siekmeier, a professor with the WVU Department of History, discusses the immediate aftermath of the war, challenges faced by veterans and the events in the late 1940's that would ultimately shape the rest of the century.
