Venus was in grade school when desegregation took place in South Carolina. She remembers the feelings of being "less then" when she walked into her new classroom and met her new classmates. In college, tragedy and grief struck her family. Venus didn't care about anything anymore. The many unprocessed emotions sent her spiraling into substance abuse. She didn't know how to cope with all the pain. "But God..." Today, Venus is the director of Renewal Center, Miracle Hill's addiction-recovery program for women.
