Listen "#13 - Patricio Escobar - on mindset for competing, confidence vs fear, and navigating his life changing injury."
Episode Synopsis
In this episode, I had a heartfelt conversation with an incredible guest and storyteller, Patricio Escobar. From Columbia, Patricio has had a long and colorful career in the cycling world. Coming from the humble beginnings of riding trails on the city streets as a kid (before he knew it was called trials), Patricio went on to compete in trails riding for over 20 years. He then doubled down on this success with numerous podium finishes on the enduro bike as a 38-year-old athlete. The peak of his racing career was tragically cut short in 2019 by a life-altering crash that left him unable to move anything below the chest. He continues to have a huge positive impact on the Mountain Bike Community by sharing his 'glass half full' outlook via his hit YouTube channel @PatricioEscobarDH and as a motivational guest speaker.I highly recommend listening right through to the end as we get into topics including:His race-winning mindsetHow to balance fear and confidenceHow to avoid riding for the EgoThe early days of trials ridingRacing EWS His crash. The strength to be alive, and what it has been like to mourn the death of his old self and re-create a new self, and a new stage of his career. You can follow along for the ride and check Patricio out on Instagram @patricioescobar, YouTube @PatricioEscobarDH, and his website here: www.fuerzapatricio.com Enjoy! - Jake Johnstone___________________________ FREE Mental About MTB Community with direct access to me 👇themindmountain.com/mental-about-mtb-application Want to work with me?Join us on a Global MTB Expedition👇themindmountain.com/globalmountainbikecoaching𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 Full Circle MTB Mentorship 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗵👇themindmountain.com/squamish-coaching-package___________________________THE MIND MOUNTAINthemindmountain.comInstagram @the_mind_mountainFacebook @themindmountainYouTube @the_mind_mountianDISCLAIMER: The opinions, thoughts, and views in the content created by The Mind Mountain, the Grit With Wisdom Podcast, and Jake Johnstone, including the guests they interview, are solely their own and do not reflect the official policy or position of any other organization, person, or company mentioned or featured in the podcast. ...
