Perry reviewed “The Smashing Machine,” a fictional film about early mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr, starring Dwayne Johnson. Seibert noted Johnson’s performance but found the movie confused and less engaging than its documentary inspiration, claiming it lacked a strong narrative. He also discussed Daniel Day-Lewis’s return to acting in “Anemone,” praising the performances, especially Day-Lewis’s, despite the film’s slow pace and poor box office showing.
