Pastor Terry A. Smith - Lent has been practiced for the near entirety of Christian history, as the early church developed the practice as a method by which we prepare to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this season, we are encouraged to times of prayer, fasting, self-examination, penitence, and most of all to focus on Christ and how much we need His grace in order to live the life He dreams for us. We are called to renew our commitments and our faith as we continually acknowledge our need of God's transforming presence within us. Over these next 40 days, we enter into repentant preparation for the celebration of Christ and the coming of His kingdom.
