In the past, media would pay for itself with ads and classifieds. Then - the internet arrived and an entire generation of people have grown accustomed to getting their news for free. Is it the taxpayer’s fault that these media outlets didn’t adapt quickly enough, and now would be bankrupt but for Government bailouts? Or, do companies like Google or Facebook - that help these outlets share their stories - bear some of the responsibility for this downturn?
