Listen "The Misconception of Leadership"
Episode Synopsis
The Misconception of LeadershipMyth: Once you become the leader, everyone’s there to serve you.Truth: The leader is the chief servant.Matthew 20:28 “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”In the kingdom, we lose rights and gain responsibilities.Maturity can be measured by the level of responsibility someone carries. The leader that learns how to take 100% responsibility is the leader that keeps growing.Leaders take 100% responsibility. We are either taking responsibility and learning how to get better or we are spending time making excuses of why we aren’t growing.Real leaders don’t blame their people; they cover their people. The buck stops here. We don’t pass the buck.It doesn’t mean that we let our people continue to make the same mistakes. We take the opportunity to grow and help them grow. It’s difficult for a real leader to become offended.Ways we give up our rights:We park far away so we can save the best parking for new guests. We plan services in mind for unchurched people instead according to our preferences. We work with all our hearts whether we feel like it or not.We respond to hurtful situations with the fruit of the Spirit.Ask yourself:Where am I not taking responsibility in my life (personal, in your organization, etc.)? Where do I find myself blaming?Invite someone who is with you the most and ask them “Do I blame a lot? Is there anything I’ve done that I haven’t taken responsibility for?
