Send us a textLorcan O’Brien is the Director of Sport, at Dulwich Prep London and Aaron Walsh is Mental Skills Coach for Chiefs Rugby, New Zealand. Lorcan and Aaron explain their roles in creating the Mental Skills Curriculum; a collaborative project with a forward thinking group of Independent school PE teachers in the UK. We share the advantages of focusing on mental skills in PE and why personal and social skills are so important for children of all ages to ‘bridge the gap’ between capability and performance in sport and wider life We cover a variety of topics including insecurity, belonging, identity, fear and freedom, coupling Aaron’s psychological theory with Lorcan’s views on pedagogical practice.
