In this episode, my guest Adina Appelbaum shares her story and expertise in helping people through the immigration, financial, and business systems to build generational wealth. An impact-driven immigration attorney, Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)®, and social impact & financial coach, Adina has spent her career building and leading new initiatives to expand individuals' rights and empowerment, particularly for immigrant families. Adina and her husband Mauricio founded the social impact education company International Empowerment®, which includes Immigrant Finance™, an online platform that empowers immigrant families with personal finance education. As an immigration attorney, Adina has specialized in impact litigation advocating for the rights of immigrant adults and children facing deportation and detention. She created and leads the Immigration Impact Lab, the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights (CAIR) Coalition's first federal courts and appellate impact litigation program. Adina has litigated individual and class action impact cases advocating for the right to asylum, challenging immigration detention, and defending the rights of immigrants with criminal convictions at the intersection of criminal and immigration law. She has represented and advocated for immigrants in Egypt, Ecuador, the U.S.-Mexico border, and the Washington, D.C. area.
