Episode Synopsis
“If you’re not successful internally, you're not successful,” says Gina Avellan, breathwork practitioner. After realizing that her life was clouded by anxiety, Gina found it challenging to experience peace and happiness within her daily life. After putting her emotional wellbeing on the back burner for many years, Gina finally decided it was time to seek the help she desperately needed. Ultimately, Gina found healing in breathwork, a somatic technique that she used to improve her mental, physical and spiritual wellness.
While methods like talk therapy and psychotherapy can have a lasting impact, they also have their limitations, and people often find themselves cycling through the same damaging emotional patterns. Gina explains that breathwork allows us to drop out of our controlling thoughts and tap into our subconscious to discover the root causes of our pain. Understanding our emotions and where they originate then allows the body to learn healthy responses for when future problems arise to pave the way for full-fledged healing.
For Gina, the best part of breathwork is the sustainability of the practice.
