The primary purpose of marriage—according to God through the Apostle Paul—is not to solve our loneliness. It’s not to fulfill some romantic need or desire. It’s not to complete me, and it's not to “find the one". None of those things are bad. Marriage can provide companionship. There is and can definitely be romance and sexual fulfillment. But while those things might be by-products of a good and healthy marriage, they all fall woefully short of fulfilling the purpose of marriage. The practice of marriage without pursuing the purpose of marriage will always feel incomplete.
