Listen "It's Worth the Work!"
Episode Synopsis
How many times have we started a project only to discover that it was so much more work than we anticipated? And at the project’s conclusion, we determined that it just wasn’t worth all that work?! There’s a story, mentioned three times in the New Testament, where Jesus’ disciples were rowing for their lives in the midst of a severe storm. Their instructions the night before were simply to get to the other side of the lake, but by 3 a.m., the storm was still making their task impossible. Jesus saw them from afar and came to their rescue, walking on the water! Once the disciples discovered that it was Jesus walking on the water, they eagerly let Him in the boat. Peace overtook the storm and their fears. Immediately, the disciples and Jesus arrived at their destination! The disciples learned that their efforts were futile until Jesus entered their boat! Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
“Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, ‘It’s a ghost!’ But Jesus spoke to them at once. ‘Don’t be afraid,’ he said. ‘Take courage. I am here!’….When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. Then the disciples worshiped him. ‘You really are the Son of God!’ they exclaimed.” Matthew 14:22, 24-27, 32-33 NLT
