Episode Synopsis "Reopening Iowa's Schools During COVID-19"
In the final weeks before Iowa schools open their doors, Governor Kim Reynolds laid out new guidelines for school districts to meet as they reopen amid the COVID-19 pandemic. While Reynolds has mandated that 50% of instruction must take place in person, many voiced their concern that Iowa hasn’t made enough progress in controlling the virus to return students to the classroom. We sit down with Dubuque Community School District Board Member Kate Parks to discuss how districts have adjusted to these new guidelines from the state and begin to make difficult decisions in planning to safely reopen schools.
