Listen "Finding my Latinidad in Predominantly White Spaces"
Episode Synopsis
From going to a mostly Latino elementary school to a predominantly white school for 8 years this is my story. Latinidad, for me, has felt like a constant ebb and flow...a balancing act between being "too white" and "too ethnic" for the spaces I find myself in. I am incredibly proud to be Latina and have been an advocate for greater representation in the corporate world, however it doesn't mean that identity has always come easy to me, especially as a Latina trying to navigate the US (education system, higher education, and corporate world) for the very first time. So join me on my very imperfect journey and on a path to further explore my Latinidad.Connect with Jess on Tik Tok and IG: @ilayalith_jessBuy Spread Your Wings and FLI: How to Effectively Navigate College as a First-Generation, Low-Income Student wherever books are sold!
