In this episode of the podcast, we are looking at a type of kingly succession different to the typical 'born to rule' hereditary type we commonly see in the Medieval world. To do this, we are using a variety of contemporary sources to unlock the structure of electoral succession within the Holy Roman Empire which lasted a thousand years all the way until the 1800s.
