In the Greco-Roman world, to be seated with a king meant sharing in his victory and authority. Paul is saying that by grace, believers now participate in Jesus’ resurrection and reign. John connects this to the First Nations Version’s phrase “the highest place in the spirit-world,” reminding listeners that salvation is not just about avoiding hell—it’s about new life and new status. Grace doesn’t merely patch us up; it enthrones us beside Jesus.
