It's also the anniversary of the death of William the Conqueror in 1087. On this day in 1513, James IV of Scotland was defeated and killed at the Battle of Flodden, ending Scotland's involvement in the War of the League of Cambrai. September 9th, 1776, is the day the Continental Congress officially adopted the name "United States" for the newly independent nation. In 1947, the first computer bug was reported when a moth was found in a relay of the Harvard Mark II computer. Other events that occurred on this day include the establishment of North Korea in 1948 and Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest-reigning monarch of the United Kingdom in 2015.
