Tien Chiu's career began with a background in mathematics, took a little turn as a technical project manager in the software industry, but it wasn't until a trip to Southeast Asia during the dot com bust that she realized she had the heart of an artist. It was there that she discovered her love of textiles and weaving. That love led her to eventually leave her position at Google, to be a full time artist and educator.
