Listen "28 Convenience vs Privacy w Bob McIntosh"
Episode Synopsis
Inspirational speaker and podcaster Bob McIntosh joins us tonight. He wrote a book about the concept that "awesome" or "excellent" is better than "perfect", which is unattainable.Yes we all want to put in effort and succeed, but it turns out that there IS such a thing as trying too hard. You end up getting nowhere.I've relaxed my grip on life and it's amazing how far it got me.Our first article discusses the "fungibility", or replaceability of an item. Dollar bills, gold, oil, and food, are fungible. However, a family heirloom or special car is irreplaceable. This segues into the question of, what do I keep, and what do I do with the ones I don't want?We then switch it up and talk about how Google gobbled FitBit, as well as an EMR company, so now they know everything about our health.Bob discusses the tradeoffs between privacy and convenience. He explains how, like it or not, most people would gladly trade their privacy for a bit of convenience. We then reveal that you don't have to have such a tradeoff. You CAN move forward with technology that doesn't spy on you - if you find the right products, such as Mint computers. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Bob is even more brilliant than you've heard today, but it's a start!
