This weeks Topic is Music! Not all summer camps have a lake, every summer camp doesn't have horseback riding, not all summer camps have a ropes course, but we would venture to guess that ALL summer camps have music and songs. In many ways music is the language of summer camp. We have wake up songs, we have before breakfast songs, we have music during breakfast, we have after breakfast songs, we have walking from activity to activity songs...you get the point, we have music for every single moment at camp. The joyful intensity of a summer camp song session would easily rival that of Beyonce at Coachella! As we discussed in our previous episode about friendship, some of the strongest and most powerful relationships in our lives happen at camp, and music is one of the ways we share those feelings. How often in our real lives do we get to belt out all 8 Mins and 45 seconds of American Pie at full volume with our arms around our best friends? Where else is it ok to ugly cry with 300 people while you sing Leaving On A Jet Plane at closing campfire on the last night of camp.
