The Nebraska region is currently in a weak La Nina and that is expected to stick around for the winter. The area is also still in a negative phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). The analogs are based largely on this combination, though other factors and teleconnections may play an even bigger role for our sensible weather this coming winter.
