Dr Ben Miles of Spin Up Science joins us to chat about the vital skills and attitudes needed for a career in science. 
As Ben says on their website : Across the UK, there is a high attrition rate of scientists and engineers leaving their field leading to a shortage in the high tech labour force. A publication by the Royal Society estimates that 53% of postgraduate researchers completing a PhD abandon their discipline within one year of graduating; a trend driven by the low availability of academic positions and the reluctance to enter industrial placements through the traditional graduate-scheme pathways.
He talks through the ethos of Spin Up Science, the idea of crossing the scientist / entrepreneur divide and what it takes to get from lab discoveries to real world solutions.
