Listen "027. Buffering with Burnout"

Episode Synopsis

Episode 027: We talk a lot about the negative effects of burnout, but in this week's episode I wanted to explore burnout from a different angle--the secondary gain you might be getting if you're using work and busy-ness as a buffer.  Buffering is the act of putting a barrier between yourself and something else, to avoid the experience of it.  So that could be an uncomfortable emotion, a person, a situation, etc. Although buffering typically does provide some relief (via the release of dopamine in your brain), the overall NET effect of buffering is negative--100% of the time.
Here's what we'll discuss:

What buffering is and why we do it
How to know if you're using work as a buffer
2 powerful questions to ask yourself so you can stop buffering

Understanding the thoughts and feelings that drive you to buffer with work (and other things) is an essential part of burnout recovery!  If you enjoyed this episode and would like to learn more about how to unravel and process what you're thinking and feeling in real time, click HERE to schedule a free 60-minute consultation where we'll get to the root of why you're burned out.
