"People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." -1 Samuel 16:7c (NIV)No matter what the setting, we as humans seem to try and stretch and twist God's way to suit our desires. The Pharisees in Jesus' time and Legalism today made and make it about behaviors. They say that if you simply don't do certain things then you're right with God. Never mind what your inner spiritual and thought life look like. Other's say that the Way of Jesus is outdated and not applicable for today. Never mind what the interpersonal consequences might be. Jesus was clear, however. He said to love the LORD with all of your heart and mind. The behaviors will flow naturally from that place of devotion.
