Listen "Comedy (Season 3, Episode 6)"
Episode Synopsis
Season 3, Episode 6: Comedy
This episode considers the Hellenic origin of the word “Comedy” and considers both the analysis of Aristotle and the witness of John’s Gospel. The origin of the episode was my 40-page undergraduate thesis which has now been consolidated to less than 1,000 words. Unlike that thesis, the ensuing analysis does consider more the non-extant Greek comedies, which despite their no longer existing does provide a fuller lens with which to ponder St. John the Evangelist’s diction and account of Jesus’ ministry. On the whole, this is certainly another episode that Big Lexi, the lexicography cartel does not want you to hear nor enjoy.
If you do enjoy this production, I also ask that you like the episode, subscribe to the podcast if you have not already, and leave us a message in the comments. Your likes, subscriptions, and comments truly help us reach a wider audience. On the topic of patronage, earlier this week BetterPears announced a prayer campaign seeking the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Head on over to BetterPears.com/Memorare to support the labor and fruit of BetterPears and grow closer to your mother in heaven.
Finally, The BetterPears Podcast is offered free through the wonder of the internet but made possible through the continued contributions of our listener audience. In March, we announced our new crowdfunding program, BetterPears Leaves. The program is simple and some might say elegant in design. Contribute $12 or more each month to BetterPears and receive a thank you Goldback in the mail. It is like a Patreon but with fractional, physical gold instead of BTS and blooper reels. If you have been listening to The BetterPears Podcast or The Confederal Reserve for some time and recognize that the ideas shared stand out from other offering of the internet, are worth sharing, and are worthy of your support, this community driven contribution program is for you. As an additional thank you to our contributors, each month from July to December 2024, one lucky supporter will receive a free BetterPears mug of his or her choice from the BetterPears Market in addition to the monthly Goldback. To learn more, visit BetterPears.com/Giveaway.
Thank you for your continued patronage of attention and federal reserve notes. And now, on with the episode.
