A graduate of the University of Western Ontario (BMus ‘16; Dip, Arts Management ‘17; BEd ‘19), Sara has been playing bassoon in wind ensembles and orchestras across her home province of Ontario since 2010. From 2017-19, Sara conducted Western Chamber Music Orchestra, an extra-curricular ensemble at UWO that aims to provide non-music majors with an opportunity to continue creating music at the post-secondary level. Sara currently plays bassoon in Winnipeg Wind Ensemble. A member of Manitoba Band Association, Ontario Music Educators’ Association, Women Band Directors International, and World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, Sara’s passion for lifelong learning and music education have led them to conducting and teaching opportunities across North America and Europe. Sara recently delivered a session titled “So You Want to Talk About Diversity: The Five W’s of Inclusive Wind Band Programming” at the Canadian Band Association forum, “A Time to Share”.
